Close to Tears, 2007. Edition of 3. Twenty inkjet-printed tissues dealing with a medical procedure Shuster underwent are printed in triplicate and folded into the book cloth-covered tissue box. The pages can be pulled from the box sequentially, but because they are essentially loose, unbound pages, it is not required that they are read in a sequential manner. The handwritten pages were manipulated by using an eyedropper to sprinkle water on them, simulating real tears, and are contrasted against medical factoids about the procedure. Due to the fragile nature of the materials, this book structure is displayed behind glass. |
